The inspiration for Wifi Dabba came from the founders working together for the last decade in the mobile application industry and realising the biggest reason for user churn being access to cheap and affordable internet access. From having worked on ground onboarding users and facing poor connectivity issues all the time, we took it on ourselves to fix the internet access problem for the common citizen.

At Wifi Dabba (YC W17), we are building a low cost, scalable & distributed Wi-Fi infrastructure to connect next billion users online. We do this by deploying a grid of lasers (Free Space Optics) over the cities & town and bring cheap and fast internet for everyone. We enable anyone to buy 1 gig of data access at a time at a price they can afford. Sachetization of internet access is the foundation to rebuilding internet for all. We do this by leveraging crypto and blockchain to truly make internet infrastructure ownership distributed — our vision is to be connectivity layer for the Web3 world.

🧵 Responsibilities

• Working to improve and maintain the reliability and availability of our services
• Actively troubleshooting any issues that arise during testing and deployment, catching and solving issues before launch
• Manage code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes. Work with CI/CD tools, and source control such as GIT and SVN
• Design and scale our back-end systems and platforms, adding automation, monitoring, and observability as needed to increase the ability of teams to self-manage the code they’re deploying
• Provide incident response and support for our production systems
• Continued technical growth through constant experimentation, learning, and rapid project iteration

Requirements:

• 4+ years of progressive relevant experience
• Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructure, and Linux/Unix system administration tasks on varied linux distributions with deep knowledge of linux fundamentals
• Experience with managing SQL and NoSQL databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB,
• Knowledge of Bash scripting is a must.
• Responsible for installing, configuring, and administrating RabbitMQ on multiple Windows environments.
• Experience with configuration management tooling like Puppet, Chef, Saltstack, etc.
• Working knowledge of Docker and other container environments along with container orchestration tools.
• Must have familiarity with web servers(e.g. Nginx)
• Good to have experience in Node.js.
• Must have extensive AWS cloud experience and familiarity with configuring, scaling, tuning, and monitoring the range of AWS services. A multi-cloud background with strong experience in any of GCP, Azure, ACS, & Digital Ocean, or other clouds in addition to AWS would be excellent
• Experience working in backend development and infrastructure development is a plus

The interview process will consist of three rounds

• Round 1: 45 mins video call with one of our engineering team members to discuss the opportunity & figure out -mutual interest & compatibility.
• Round 2: In-person interview in our Bangalore office. 3-4 hours. We expect you to work on a small problem statement to help us analyze your programming analytical & logical skills and approach.
• Round 3: 30-60 min call/in person with the founder(s) to jointly define your career roadmap at Wifi Dabba.
