Jed (CTO) has been programming since he was 8, and sold his first software aged 12. He studied computer science (USyd-part/USFCA), and was editor-in-chief of Australia's top computer magazine at 23, before making a popular start page with 3m users, and building a media search and personalization startup. ✖️ The Problem
We all know search is broken, but it also has massive potential. Today, it’s full of ads, misinformation and SEO spam. With AI-powered search and chatbots the problem will get even worse, because LLMs make things up and bury the sources, and a new era of sponsored answers threatens to destroy trust online.
What makes the web great is the high quality content that many producers spend hours researching, writing and creating. Google sells ads on their content without giving fair attribution or promotion. Now LLM-based chatbots give even less credit, or make sources up. Users have to spend more time fact-checking than searching.
✅ Our Solution
With Andi, we want to make search 100x better. We’re building practical and helpful AI that is largely invisible to the user. We set a high bar on answer speed and accuracy and only show generated answers that have very high confidence. We focus on getting the building blocks like factual summaries and explanations right. We highlight and present rich information direct from sites rather than little snippets.
We make searching the web fun, interesting, and easy to understand. Our goal is to save you 15 - 20 mins by providing direct answers to questions, but only when they are right. Andi is ad free, private and anonymous, so you can feel safe online.
