Hello everyone! We are excited to announce Cosmic 2.0. This release is the result of two years of dedicated work by our team which we are proud to share with you.
What is Cosmic?
Cosmic is a headless CMS and API toolkit. We provide a web dashboard to create content, and API tools to deliver content to any website or app. Customers use Cosmic as their CMS to avoid the pain of building and maintaining their own CMS.

What’s in Cosmic 2.0?

New API and API docs: We’ve updated our API to v3 which includes a completely new JavaScript SDK which makes fetching, adding, editing, and deleting content easier than ever. A view from the API docs:

Use Cosmic to store and deliver media for your applications including images, video, audio, documents and more. Image processing and optimization is included with all plans.

How did your company get started? (i.e., How did the founders meet? How did you come up with the idea? How did you decide to be a founder?)
Tony, the CEO, worked on CMS tools for years (WordPress, Drupal, etc) and found the process of building websites with legacy CMS systems daunting. He started building Cosmic to have an API-powered CMS that enabled content to be delivered to any website or app.
How did you decide to apply to Y Combinator? What was your experience applying, going through the batch, and fundraising at demo day?
We had showed our product to various developers that we thought would give us good feedback. One of their best points of feedback was to apply to YC. Doing YC was a great experience. Being apart of the network, events, staying connected though Bookface, finding quality candidates to join us on our mission, has been hugely beneficial.
How have you kept in touch with the YC community and continued to use YC resources & programs since the batch ended?
We haven’t kept in touch with group partners or other YC batch mates, however we have certainly stayed connected on Bookface and have used it as a way to source talent to join our team, and keep up with the latest startup advice and latest news.
What's the history of your company from getting started until the present day? What were the big inflection points?
It’s been ups and downs, but it has trended up!
What is the core problem you are solving? Why is this a big problem? What made you decide to work on it?
We believe that content is still king. Cosmic provides a way to build content powered websites and apps faster and easier. Businesses that use Cosmic have found themselves unblocked with their content ops, enabling them to move faster to market, and giving them an unfair advantage in the marketplace.
What is your long-term vision? If you truly succeed, what will be different about the world?
We see a world where content powered apps will be easier than ever to build with three layers provided by Cosmic:1. A service that gives developers and content teams a strong foundation will a scalable dashboard, API, and asset management service.2. A marketplace that enables teams to leverage the Cosmic community to build the best websites and apps on the internet.3. An integration network that enables effortless connections to 3rd-party services to enable faster deployment and automation to reach customers all over the world.When we have achieved these goals, the world will have the most optimized developer experience for building content powered websites and apps, development will be faster, easier, and cheaper, and the web user experience will be better all over the world.
