Linum

type text, dream video

Linum is Midjourney for Video. We let anyone turn an idea into a movie. Over the next ten years, we’re going to witness a shift in animation, tv, and film similar to what we’ve seen with YouTube - where most content will be generated by everyday people. At Linum, we’re using AI to build the tools that will enable this transition. Linum was founded by Sahil Chopra and Manu Chopra - two brothers with 10 years of AI experience. Sahil co-wrote Stanford’s graduate-course on LLMs (Large Language Models). Manu trained RL (Reinforcement Learning) models for anesthesia administration at UCSF. We launched a private beta in February 2023, with individual users spending 5-10 hours making videos every week.

Active Founders

Sahil Chopra

Sahil graduated from Stanford University (BS, MS '19), where he co-wrote the graduate level course on LLMs. Prior to founding Linum with his brother, Sahil worked at McKinsey - helping product managers at Fortune 500 companies build AI powered products. He is a Bay Area native who loves movies, the Dubs, and burritos.

Manu Chopra

Manu graduated early from UC Berkeley (BA '21). Prior to founding Linum with his brother, Manu pursued research at the intersection of AI, bioengineering, and healthcare (e.g., applying offline reinforcement learning to learn optimal strategies for anesthesia administration). He is a Bay Area native who loves movies, the Dubs, and ice cream.

🎞️ What is Linum?

Linum is Midjourney for video, a creative tool that allows anyone to make animated videos starting with just a few prompts. For example, Linum generated this video in 5 minutes. (4K Version Here).

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Who are we?

We’re a pair of brothers that love movies and have deep AI experience, across both academic research and product-building.

  • Sahil Chopra (left) - Sahil (BS ‘18, MS ‘19, Stanford) co-wrote Stanford’s graduate-level course on NLP & Deep Learning. Previously, Sahil worked at McKinsey - helping product managers at Fortune 500 companies take AI-native products from ideation to launch.
  • Manu Chopra (right) - Manu (BA ‘21, UC Berkeley) pursued research at the intersection of AI, bioengineering, and healthcare at BAIR and UCSF (e.g., training offline reinforcement learning agents to identify optimal strategies for administering anesthesia to patients).

🔨 Why are we building this?

When we shuttered our last venture in the fall of 2022, we fell down the AI Art rabbit hole like so many others. We LOVE movies, so we immediately found ourselves trying to make animated videos using diffusion models.

Turns out it’s really hard to do — so we’re building the models and tools to make it easier.

❤️ Our Asks

We’re adding new users to our beta every week, as we ramp up GPU capacity.
