Roforco runs a Roblox game accelerator that makes games successful by providing funding, resources and hands-on support. Co-founders Artem and Brain have been building games together since they were 14 were developers on 12 top grossing titles, accounting for over 2.74 billion plays/downloads. Prior to building the accelerator, Roforco was a game studio with a portfolio of games that reached benchmarks including 10 million monthly active users and 16,000 concurrent users. Roforco also worked with notable brands such as Unilever, for whom they made an branded game with over 50 million plays. In 2022, Roforco joined YCombinator's coveted startup accelerator and went on to secure a $1.5 million seed funding round from investors including Paul Graham, Dentsu Group, the prev. From playing games to developing them, Brain taught himself programming at the age of 12 and started developing games on the Roblox platform. He led development teams and released 2 titles of his own accumulating over 20 million play sessions. At the age of 16, he was offered leadership positions with 6 figure salaries at companies like Dubit Games and Jack Morton International. Brain is now the CEO and Co-founder at Roforco, being responsible for the development and operations of the company.

Artem 'Tom' Middleton

Tom is the CEO and Co-founder at Roforco, spending his days on the strategy and growth of the company. Tom started on Roblox in the 2000s, evolving from player to game developer. At 15 he built a small marketplace selling his own assets while independently contracting to over 17 top-earning Roblox Games. At 16 Tom was self employed, helping F100s and enterprises including Pepsi, UMG & Spotify with digital strategy. In the same year he co-built games for brands including Chipotle and QQ Music.

🧨 The Problem

There’s over 200bn$ in (video) gaming. Individual games can pull in hundreds of millions annually. Investors love this opportunity, but it’s impossible to predict if a studio’s next title will be popular, make money back or land well.

Games are expensive to make and are inconsistently successful.
This is called hit based risk, or as we dubbed it ‘hit-risk’

🤔 Why Roblox?

There will always be at least one popular platform people make games for. At the moment, it’s Roblox with a 2bn$ market and over 200mm MAU. We’re also deeply familiar with the platform, having previously built an agency that grossed 500k$ of revenue in 6 mo and partnered with brands including Unilever.

🔎 The Insight

Indie game developers have a tendency to never finish projects they start. After doing the fun parts like the game loop, closing out the game for release is often too difficult, boring and resource intensive. Every game developer (on Roblox) that we know has at least 2 unfinished or abandoned projects.

There are 10 million developers registered on Roblox in comparison to 44k on Steam. Compared to the years AAA takes to produce one title (or 6-18 months in mobile), on Roblox the average time to develop a game can be as little as 2-3 months.

🎉 There's a Solution!

We work with these unfinished/abandoned games and we’re able to acquire/ receive a share of these projects, while partnering with the original developer who is usually glad to work together just to see their vision come to life.

This gives us a much bigger market of unfinished games to acquire and mass produce for faster and cheaper. Meanwhile, the original developer gets to make money back from their idea at a fraction of the time and effort.

Effectively - it’s the revenue of gaming with the predictability of B2B SaaS!

🤯 What next?

Once at least a game takes off, it proves the validity of it’s idea. Then we can dedicate larger, longterm resources and grow the game’s IP exponentially, turning it into a multimedia franchise (movies, toys, etc) building more revenue streams beyond the game.
