Apollo is a managed marketplace for back-office services. For basic back-office services like lead generation or financial models, our platform gets the work in a manner that is cheaper, faster and higher quality than would be the case with freelancers on Upwork.
I was previously a part of early team at DoorDash (2016-18). Most recently, I founded Airlift Technologies that went on to raise $120m+ in venture financing and was ultimately unsuccessful amidst the market crash of 2022. I am now building Apollo, a diversified technology group focused on building consumer marketplaces in frontier markets. I can be reached at gul@apollo-group.io.
I have spent the past 7+ years working on consumer marketplaces. In 2016, I was a part of the early team at DoorDash’s HQs in San Francisco. In 2019, I started my first startup (Airlift), raising $120m+ in venture financing and scaling annualised revenue to $90m+.\With a rich set of experiences and learnings, I decided to start Apollo Group — a diversified technology group that specialises in building consumer marketplaces. Our first project is called Venus, a fuly managed marketplace for back-office services.
Our biggest inflection point was a realisation that consumer marketplaces do not necessarily have to be developed in a manner that is capital intensive and that creates a long path to profitability. We believe that there is a way to build marketplace businesses such that they deliver early access to Free Cash Flow (FCF).
